  2. Prospective medical students must have earned 68 semester hours or the equivalent in an accredited US or Canadian college or university.
  3. Biology/lab (8 hours)
  4. Inorganic Chemistry/lab (8 hours)
  5. Organic Chemistry/lab (8 hours)
  6. Physics/lab (8 hours)
  7. Math/Statistics (6 hours) - Any college-level math course
  8. English (6 hours)
  9. Humanities Courses (6 hours) – (includes additional English course work, Languages, Art, Music, History, Philosophy, Religion, etc.)

  • BS/MD requirements for entering into the College of Medicine include: Minimum science GPA of 3.25; minimum overall GPA of 3.5; minimum total MCAT score of 504; strong interview and supportive letters of recommendation.                                                                                                                                                                                                                          The curriculum of the College of Medicine is designed as a program of instruction and training to produce competent and compassionate physicians who provide health care in medically undeserved communities.

  • BS/MD Program
  • The BS/MD Program allows the student to complete the requirements for both the B.S. and M.D. degree in six years instead of the customary eight years. A limited number of students enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences will be admitted each year to the Howard University College of Medicine as part of the entering class of traditionally selected students.
