The 10 Qualities of a Total Winner

Quality 1:  Positive Self-Expectancy

Related image"Life is a self fulfilling prophecy. True winners go into every event expecting to win."Positive self-expectancy is the first, most outwardly identifiable quality of a top-achieving, winning human being. Positive self-expectancy is pure and simple optimism: real enthusiasm for everything you do. And optimism is expecting the most favorable result from your own actions. There never was a winner who didn’t expect to win in advance. Winners understand that life is a self-fulfilling prophecy. And they know that you usually get what you expect in the long run. So winners accept the belief that hope and a deep, unbreakable faith — forged into a fundamental attitude of positive self-expectancy — is the eternal spring from which all creative, motivating energy flows.

Quality 2: Positive Self-Motivation

Self-motivation is the force that keeps pushing us to go on – it's our internal drive to achieve, produce, develop, and keep moving forward. When you think you're ready to quit something, or you just don't know how to start, your self-motivation is what pushes you to go on.
With self-motivation, you'll learn and grow – regardless of the specific situation. That's why it's such a fundamental tool for reaching your goals, achieving your dreams, and succeeding, in this journey we call life.
Many of us find ourselves in motivational slumps that we have to work to get out of. Sometimes it’s like a continuous cycle where we are motivated for a period of time, fall out and then have to build things back up again. A good way to be continuously self-motivated is to implement. we must have a personal impulse to achieve, the desire to improve or meet certain standards; Commitment to personal or organizational objectives; Initiative, which he defined as "willingness to act on opportunities".Optimism, the ability to move forward and pursue objectives in the face of setbacks.

True winners are confident and view themselves as competent, valuable human beings.
Self-Image - The idea, conception, or mental image one has of oneself. Self-Esteem - Respect or favorable image of oneself (Random House Dictionary)
Self-image is how you perceive yourself. It is a number of self-impressions that have built up over time: What are your hopes and dreams? What do you think and feel? What have you done throughout your life and what did you want to do? These self-images can be very positive, giving a person confidence in their thoughts and actions, or negative, making a person doubtful of their capabilities and ideas.
Image result for Positive Self-ImageSurprisingly, your self-image can be very different from how the world sees you. Some people who outwardly seem to have it all (intelligence, looks, personal and financial success) may have a bad self-image. Conversely, others who have had a very difficult life and multiple hardships may also have a very positive self-image.
Some believe that a person's self-image is defined by events that affect him or her (doing well or not in school, work, or relationships.) Others believe that a person's self-image can help shape those events. There is probably some truth to both schools of thought: failing at something can certainly cause one to feel bad about oneself, just as feeling good about oneself can lead to better performance on a project. But it cannot be denied that your self-image has a very strong impact on your happiness, and your outlook on life can affect those around you. If you project a positive self-image, people will be more likely to see you as a positive, capable person.

Quality 4: Positive Self-Direction

You gotta have direction if you are going to go anywhere. True winners know where they are going. Their sense of direction comes from the self and not from outside influences like parents or friends.

When you are a person of character, you know who you are and where you want to go. You’ve already spent a great deal of time thinking about it. You’ve been working on the parts of your personality that will make you better–your attitude, your health, your time-management skills. You’ve been putting it all down on paper. And you’ve developed positive self-direction.

As you talk with yourself every day, how often do you ask, “Is what I am doing today getting me closer to where I want to be tomorrow?” Because here’s what you don’t want to ever do: kid yourself. Kid your neighbor and kid me and kid the marketplace if you want to, but don’t kid yourself.

You can’t wait around with your fingers crossed hoping you’ll arrive at a good destination when you’re not even headed in the right direction. You say, “Well, maybe the wind will take me.” There’s a chance, of course, but it’s about as likely as winning the lottery. You’ve got to take charge.

Quality 5: Positive Self-Control

Total winners can sacrifice immediate pleasure for a gain in the future. Delayed gratification is of immense value in reaching your goals.

Stopping immediate pleasure has to be a great win because it all matters on how you can control yourself. You'll reach your goals and you'll reach them having incredible self control. For the sake of your future it all depends on one person and that one person is you yourself. Being positive and sacrificing immediate gratification will show you and gain the future with self control.

Quality 6: Positive Self-Discipline

You have to discipline yourself or else someone else will discipline you into doing what they want you to do. Total winners have the power to discipline and take control of their lives.

Instead, they make level-headed decisions. Total winners like in the present. They know that now is all there is. They don’t get caught up in the past or worry about the future. They simply handle the business that they can handle which is the stuff going on today, now. Grounded in theory and empirical evidence of purpose in life as both a developmental asset and a desired outcome, this study was designed to uncover the role that the beyond-the-self dimension of purpose may play in purpose development across the adolescent and emergent adult years. Transcripts of semi-structured interviews at two points in time with 146 adolescents and emerging adults were coded for forms of purpose. Descriptive and chi-square analyses highlighted the ways participants at each of four developmental stages moved in or out of the various dimensions of purpose over the course of the study. Confirming earlier research, developing a beyond-the-self intention was found to be an atypical adolescent experience. Extending existing research, the beyond-the-self dimension of purpose was found to develop differently from the other dimensions of purpose across adolescence. Results are discussed in light of research about the roles of individual and contextual factors on development.

If you have ever been in an auto accident you may have experienced everything happening in slow motion and noticed details of your thought process and the event. This is a state of heightened awareness. With practice we can learn to engage these types of heightened states and see new opportunities for interpretations in our thoughts, emotions, and conversations. Having awareness creates the opportunity to make changes in behavior and beliefs.
